This list includes all 281 that saw Naval service and 2 prototypes. The original list was current in 1987 as compiled in Rene Francillon's book Douglas A-3 Skywarrior. As the Skywarrior continued in active service until 1991, final disposition of some aircraft is unaccounted for. This list is currently being researched to account for the final disposition of each aircraft. Notes are updated as new information surfaces.
This database was put together with reports obtained through an FOIA request that we filed with the Naval Historical Center and the Naval Safety Center. Some reports were still classified and redacted. This is the most comprehensive listing of the A-3 Skywarrior aircraft loses or damage reports that we can compile.
Thanks to Frank Cogdell for an immense amount of work and time put forth in this effort.
These are Skywarriors that are in long term storage at Davis Monthan AFB, Tuscon, AZ. (AMARC formerly MASDC). They are available to groups, museums and organizations for memorial or historical static displays. These A-3s are NOT currently slated for disposal.
